Paediatric Dentistry
The
prevention of gum and dental diseases, building
a positive attitude towards dental health care,
as well as making children familiar with dental
treatments should begin in the early childhood.
So, parents should bring their children to see
a paediatric dentist as early as their first deciduous
tooth erupts. Even some dental treatments for
children are similar to those for adults; the
processes may differ, due to oral physiology,
the shape of teeth and behaviour of children.
Therefore, children dental health should be taken
care by a paediatric dentist.
When
the first primary tooth erupts, parents can bring
their child to see the dentist to be advised on
oral hygiene, and the appropriate milk feeding
to prevent tooth decay. Besides, fluoride supplementation
can help strengthen children’s permanent teeth,
which are developing under the jawbones, to prevent
future tooth decay. Deciduous teeth function as
the adults’ teeth. They result in a facial aesthetic
and help jawbones grow properly with children’s
ages. Thus, taking your children to visit the
dentist every 6 months and follow the advice are
recommended.
